Welcome to the Luffa.info picture page! Here are photos of luffa sponge gourds, also known as loofahs, loofah sponge, loofa, loofah, loufa, sponge gourd, or whatever else someone wants to call them.  Scientific name for this plant is Luffa aegytpiaca. These luffa vines were grown on a home garden trellis, on chain link fence, and on a wooden deck with lattice. Here in Tennessee we start our luffa seeds about a month before our last frost date in pots. They are kept warm and get as much sun as possible. The plants are transplanted outside to sunny locations after danger of frost. The loofah sponges are picked and peeled in the fall. Also check out the bees and flowers photos on our flowers page.
